The auction status

CURRENT BID, as reported September 4: $2,472,280 after seven bids. That figure is an active-auction checkpoint, not a completed sale. The Alt auction is scheduled to close September 24.

The card is the 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Kobe Bryant-LeBron James Logoman Autographs Dual 1/1, checklist number DL-BJ. Men's Journal recorded the early bid total, while the September 4 auction announcement confirmed the close date.

What the card is

The card puts two game-used NBA Logoman patches beside two blue on-card autographs. LeBron added his No. 23 inscription; Kobe added No. 24. The reverse states that the memorabilia was used in an official NBA game and that Upper Deck certified both the memorabilia and autographs.

PSA cert 65478780 records an NM-MT 8 card grade and GEM MT 10 autograph grade, with a PSA/DNA population of one and none higher. PSA shortens the card number to #BJ on its label; the release checklist identifies it as DL-BJ.

Why this card matters

Few cards combine this many top-end traits without a compromise: two generational players, two game-used league-logo patches, two on-card autographs, jersey-number inscriptions, Exquisite branding and a true one-of-one serial number.

The issue year strengthens the story. In 2007-08, Kobe won his only regular-season MVP and led the Lakers to the NBA Finals, while LeBron led the league in scoring and won All-Star Game MVP. It captures both players at a defining point rather than pairing retired legends years after the fact. (NBA 2007-08 season review)

Alt said the card had remained ungraded for nearly 20 years before receiving its PSA 8. Its arrival is therefore not another repeat sale of a familiar trophy card; it is the first major public price test for this exact copy.

How rare is the Kobe-LeBron Exquisite Logoman pairing?

BCI's Player Card Counter indexes four dual-only Kobe Bryant-LeBron James Logoman 1/1 card objects in Upper Deck Exquisite Collection from 2003-04 through 2009-10. Three are autographed. This count excludes solo cards, cards with three or more players, non-Logoman memorabilia and products outside Exquisite.

2004-05#LJKB Dual NBA Logo AutographsYes
2007-08#DL-BJ Logoman Autographs DualYes — current auction

That makes the Alt card scarce in the way that matters: it is the only copy of this exact 2007-08 issue, but it is not the only Exquisite Logoman card to pair Kobe and LeBron. The full release structure is available in BCI's 2007-08 Exquisite guide.

The closest public comparisons

The comparison everyone will make is the 2007-08 Exquisite Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant Dual Logoman Autographs 1/1. That card, graded PSA 6, reached a COMPLETED SALE of $12,932,000 at Heritage in August 2025, including the buyer's premium. It shares the year, product, dual-Logoman construction and two-signature format with the Alt card. (Heritage result)

A second useful reference is the unsigned 2003-04 Exquisite Jordan-Kobe All-NBA Access Press Patches Dual Logoman 1/1, also graded PSA 6. It produced a COMPLETED SALE of $3,172,000 at Heritage in December 2025. That result is farther from the Alt card's construction, but it shows the premium attached to a dual-Logoman card from Exquisite's first season. (Heritage result)

Neither is a direct comp. The player pairings differ, the cards reached market at different times, and unique cards can be driven by a small number of bidders. The Alt card's higher numerical grade improves presentation, but grade alone does not outrank player combination, card design or bidder depth on a one-of-one.

What the result will tell us

The sale will test whether the $12.932 million Jordan-Kobe result was mainly a Jordan-specific event or whether the 2007-08 Exquisite dual-autograph Logoman format itself can support another eight-figure card.

Final buyer-facing priceBCI read
Below $5 millionStill a landmark Kobe-LeBron result, but one that leaves a large Jordan premium inside the closest same-year comparison.
$5 million to $10 millionConfirms a separate trophy tier for the Kobe-LeBron pairing while preserving a meaningful gap to Jordan-Kobe.
Above $10 millionShows that the 2007-08 Exquisite dual-autograph Logoman format can create eight-figure demand across more than one player pairing.

Those ranges are interpretation bands, not a price forecast. The final meaning will also depend on bid depth, the platform's reported premium treatment and whether the transaction is confirmed as complete.

BCI verdict

This is one of the defining Kobe Bryant-LeBron James cards from the Exquisite era and a legitimate high-end market test. Its importance comes from the complete construction—not from “1/1” alone—and from the fact that this exact card has not previously established a public sale price.

For now, $2,472,280 is a dated CURRENT BID, not a sale. BCI will update this same article after the September 24 close with the verified buyer-facing result, premium context and what the price changes—or does not change—about the hierarchy of Exquisite Logoman cards.
