Information BCI collects

Newsletter signups

Newsletter forms collect your email address plus basic signup context, such as the page where you joined and campaign or referral information when it is available.

Contact and mailbag submissions

Contact and Collector Mailbag forms collect the name, email address, message, selected topic, and basic source-page context that you choose to submit.

Site analytics

BCI uses Google Analytics and may use a privacy-focused analytics service to understand traffic sources, device categories, page use, and site interactions. Analytics providers may use cookies or similar identifiers under their own policies.

Collector profiles and My Research

If you create a collector profile, Clerk handles sign-in and identity security. BCI stores an internal account ID, a normalized copy of your verified primary email, optional collecting preferences, favorite-player IDs, saved research and tool results, and consent history in Neon Postgres. BCI also keeps the exact email tied to your separate Dispatch choice so a later sign-in email change does not transfer newsletter consent.

Browser-only data

Pending sign-in actions and the legacy Saved Research list can be stored in your browser. BCI uploads a legacy browser list only after you explicitly choose Import while signed in.

How information is used

  • Email addresses submitted to the BCI Dispatch are used to manage the subscriber list and send newsletter messages. Beehiiv is the primary newsletter service; a secured Google Sheet may be used as a backup capture destination.
  • Contact and mailbag details are used to review the submission, respond when appropriate, and route the message. Those submissions are delivered to a private Google Sheet used by BCI.
  • Aggregated analytics are used to improve navigation, content priorities, performance, and the usefulness of collector tools. BCI does not sell personal information.
  • Collector-profile information is used only to operate private My Research features, restore saved tool work, apply optional defaults, provide exports, prevent abuse, and support account requests.
  • BCI does not send account emails, Clerk identifiers, collector preferences, notes, card inputs, or saved paths to its analytics providers.

Section

Retention, choices, and requests

  • Information is kept only as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose it was submitted, site operations, or applicable recordkeeping obligations.
  • Newsletter readers can unsubscribe through the link included in each newsletter message.
  • You can use the contact page to ask what information you submitted directly to BCI, request a correction, or request deletion where applicable.
  • Account holders can export their profile, preferences, favorites, saved items, tool results, and consent history from Settings & Privacy. Account data remains until you remove items or delete the account.
  • Deleting an account removes its profile and saved data. BCI retains only a one-way hash of the former identity identifier to prevent delayed webhook events from recreating a deleted account; it does not retain the deleted email in that record.
  • A BCI Dispatch subscription uses separate consent. Account deletion offers a separate unsubscribe choice and does not silently change newsletter consent.

Third parties and policy updates

Service providers and external sites

Clerk processes authentication, Neon hosts account application data, Beehiiv manages Dispatch subscriptions, and analytics or form providers process the limited information described above. Linked auction houses, marketplaces, and social platforms operate under their own privacy practices.

Policy changes

This page will be updated when BCI materially changes its forms, analytics, newsletter provider, or handling practices.
