Research note

All in-scope physical player-bearing source rows were normalized from four archived publisher checklist pages and eleven downloadable master checklists. The 2009-10, 2010-11, 2012-13, and 2013-14 releases remain verified lower bounds; 2014-15 onward uses exact card-level master rows. Excluded source rows remain in the audit ledger but never enter player totals.

Exact count of the in-scope physical player-bearing checklist cards in the downloadable 2024-25 master checklist. Cards are organized as Patch Autographs, Autographs, Patches & Memorabilia, and Base & Inserts. Printing plates, Blockchain or digital cards, buybacks and Recollection or Replay cards, standalone Collegiate releases, other sports, and cross-product update cards are excluded. College-themed cards issued in the mainline NBA release remain included. Each distinct physical checklist-card identity counts once. Multi-player cards count once for every featured player, so player totals will not sum to the unique checklist-card total.
