How collectors use the term
Serial numbering describes supply, not demand. Two cards numbered to the same run can have very different product authority, design recognition, player importance, and liquidity.
Why it matters
Collectors often overpay for a weak /10 while ignoring a more important, more liquid /50.
How to verify it
Record both the copy number and total run, then confirm the checklist says that parallel is actually numbered to that amount.
